The Perfect Fit : Cheap Monday

We all know finding the perfect pair of jeans is like finding a needle in a haystack.
The other week however I came across these jeans and managed to get hold of them for a great price - not two combinations that normally cross paths when it comes to jeans! It's safe to say they've now become a staple item in my wardrobe!

This is the first Cheap Monday item I've ever bought, but already I can whole heartedly recommended them as a brand. Not only for their great designs and quality, but also for their environmental and ethical approach to business. Since Cheap Monday's beginnings back in 2004, their aim has been to provide an alternative for people who wanted fashionable jeans without the high price tag.

"We see and treat people as of equal value,
with respect for human rights and an appreciation of diversity."

Their code of conduct requires their suppliers to follow strict rules in regards to working conditions, this means; no child labour, no discrimination, no excessive working hours, payment of at least the minimum wage and safe working conditions.

"We are aware of how chemicals are used in both growing and the production
. We understand the burden this places on the environment and on farmers and workers."

As well as respecting human rights, Cheap Monday cares for the environment with strict chemical requirements so as no chemicals which could be harmful to health or the environment are used within production. They prioritise ways of using natural resources more effectively, are increasing recycling and improving energy efficiency in their offices and shops.

Since starting my eco fashion initiative at the beginning of the year I've been asked to recommend ethical fashion brands to my readers and the truth is, there's not a lot to choose from out there that is both fashionable and reasonably priced. Cheap Monday however offer quality, fashionable designs and most importantly offer you a chance to buy into a brand ethos that's striving to pave the way for high street brand labels to develop sustainable initiatives without compromising what their shoppers want and need.

You can see a few of my favourite Cheap Monday jeans below, but if you are interested in finding out more about the brand, you can read their ethics and values statement HERE and you can shop their clothes HERE

Have any of you bought from Cheap Monday before?

Thanks for reading!

  5. I actually hate jeans (this sounds bad, but gets better I swear!) But I wanted to try out some high waisted jeans and fell in love with a pair from Cheap Monday. They are the only jeans I ever wear now. Well made, none of that jeggining, saggy butt thing, just perfect! Makes me feel better that they are ethical too. What might be interesting is a post on what brands are really unethical? I know Zara is a bad one.

    1. High waisted are next on my list now!
I was considering doing that, but I don't want to seem like I'm preaching to people on what to buy and what not to buy...so maybe I'll just stick to championing the best brands out there...
....But yes Zara are horrendous haha, it's scary that reports are coming out that brands like Zara are producing clothes where the dyes in their fabrics are actually toxic and hazardous!

  12. I love Cheap Monday, but I never knew how ethical they were! What a bonus! And it really goes to show that the price doesn't need to rocket up when using these practices - so many cheaper brands act as though more ethical practices would cost too much and raise prices unreasonably high. Obviously this isn't the case at all, there are no excuses!

  14. Thank you for the lovely post on my blog, you really should check out the cafe next time you're in Brighton, it really was so lovely! I absolutely love the photos to this post and I've never tried on a pair of cheap monday jeans but after this post I may have to! especially if a brand such as this one really does take into the thought the environment, it can make a pair jeans feel that much special knowing they're causing no harm to our world
