Asain Chilli Jam

I've always been a fan of making food for presents. Christmas, Easter or a Birthday, a homemade present is so much more meaningful than one bought in my opinion.
I made this Chili jam for a friend of mine who is incredibly passionate about spicy food!
The recipe was taken from Lorraine Pascal's latest culinary series "Home Cooking Made Easy"... if you managed to catch her last series "Baking Made Easy" you will know how fantastic she is! And if you haven't as of yet seen her program's I do encourage you to indulge in her fabulous foodie delights!

450 grams tomatoes
2 garlic cloves
2 red chilies
1 cm chunk fresh ginger
250 grams granulated sugar
60 grams balsamic vinegar
Salt and pepper

Prepare the main ingredients.  Measure out the tomatoes (don't worry if the weight is a little over or under), and chop into quarters. Chop two garlic cloves roughly, two chilies finely, and grate the fresh ginger. Place the chopped ingredients into a food processor and add the balsamic vinegar, a pinch of salt and a good twist of black pepper. Whiz up the ingredients in the food processor for a few seconds until the big lumps have gone. Then pour the mixture into a pan and boils for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until is turns syrupy. After 25 - 30 minutes take the jam off the heat and leaves to cool for 20 minutes. Pour into a sterilized old jam jar using a sterilized jug ( sterilizing both of these will ensure the chutney will last for a good few months)
Store in fridge and enjoy with cheese, crackers and at the side of your favorite asian or chinese meals... It is incredibly versatile!

I am wondering whether or not to make food posts a regular thing? Now the time of Christmas is beginning to get closer, I think I will post food ideas for presents including the likes of; rocky road fudge, peppermint cream christmas puddings. . . and I'm sure I'll think of some more . . . let me know what you think!
Have a lovely day. . .
